Cryptune is operated by Morning Sun Games, an independent games studio based in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what happens to information when you play the game at cryptunegame.com.
The short version: there are no accounts, no logins and no user database, and your game progress never leaves your device. We do use Google Analytics to count visitors, and the game is funded by advertising. Both of those are explained below.
Cryptune saves your game progress in your browser's local storage. This includes your current puzzle state, your scores, your streak history, your archive results, and your preferences such as theme, sound and keyboard settings.
This information stays on your device. It is not transmitted to us and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data will delete it permanently, and because it is stored per device it does not follow you from one browser or phone to another.
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment details through the game.
If you contact us by email, we will hold that email and your address for as long as needed to reply and to keep a sensible record of the conversation. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs which may include IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested. These are used for security and for keeping the site running, not for building a profile of you.
Cryptune uses local storage for the game itself, which is a cookie-like technology but is not shared with anyone.
Cookies are also set by third parties, principally by Google Analytics and by our advertising partner, as described in the next two sections. These are used to count visitors, to serve and measure advertising and, depending on your choices, to personalise it.
You can control or delete cookies through your own browser settings. Blocking all cookies will not stop Cryptune working, although it may cause your game progress and streak to be forgotten between visits.
Cryptune uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is being used. It tells us things like how many people visited, which pages they looked at, roughly which country they were in, and whether they were on a phone or a computer. It is how we know whether a puzzle was unusually popular or whether something has broken.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies and collects an identifier for your browser along with technical information such as device type, browser, referring website and approximate location. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before the data reaches us. We see this information only in aggregate, as charts and totals, and we cannot use it to work out who any individual visitor is.
We do not link analytics data to anything else, and we do not sell or share it.
If you would rather not be counted, you have three options. You can decline analytics cookies in the consent panel described below, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or you can block cookies in your browser settings. None of these will stop the game working.

Cryptune is free to play and is funded by advertising. We work with Google, including Google AdSense, to serve advertisements on this site.
Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove advertising from the site. You will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.
If you are visiting from the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you will be shown a consent message the first time you visit, asking whether you agree to the use of cookies for personalised advertising and measurement. Your answer is recorded and applied to the ads you are shown.
You can change your mind at any time. The consent panel can be reopened using the small privacy icon that appears in the corner of the screen, and your new choices take effect immediately.
Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to how it is used, and to complain to a supervisory authority. In the United Kingdom that authority is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
In practice we hold very little. If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence deleted, say so and it will be.
Cryptune is a general audience puzzle game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
The game links to other sites, including Ko-fi, social media platforms and the Morning Sun Games studio site. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's website, governed by their privacy policy rather than this one.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged in the game itself.
